Throughout the years TFDP has worked with numerous persons and institutions that helped us in furthering the cause of human rights in the Philippines. As we celebrate our 40th years, it is rightly so that we give thanks for the achievement of these people and institution that has been instrumental in our work as human rights defenders in general.

Thus, the Sr. Mariani Dimaranan, SFIC, Human Rights Defenders Awards.

On December 8, we have chose to honor 7 institutions and individuals to give thanks to.

The criteria used in choosing these individuals and institutions are as follows:
Service to the cause of human rights – A substantial part of the lives of these people and institutions has been to serve for the cause of protection, defense and promotion of human rights.

Integrity and leadership for the cause of human rights – That each recipient of the award has shown moral aptitude, outstanding leadership and unfaltering commitment in furthering the cause of human rights.
and not the least,

Contribution and accomplishment for the cause of human rights – that the efforts of these individuals and organization have provided significant contribution to the facilitation of human rights, that their pioneering endeavor must have help in the progressive realization of human rights or has been instrumental in defending and protecting human rights.
