What’s the truth behind the “Golden Rice Project”?

This three-part series article was originally posted at BlogWatch Features last September 2013 of the Philippine Online Chronicles where the Author has currently renewed its contract as a contributor writer.
I decided to repost this because the issue on Golden Rice is gaining momentum again when the government announced its commercialization within a month’s time. The NO2GMO Coalition members, including myself, representing my organization, SARILAYA, supports the call for the non-commercialization of Golden Rice. We support instead the move to make accessible Vitamin A-rich vegetables and rootcrops.
As a coalition, we are not against science as many suggest. We are instead for the use of science and technology responsibly for the common good of the entire population and preservation of the environment (especially the nutrients of the soil). We are for science and technology that promote ecological care.
