MANILA — Farmers working at the Hacienda Luisita in Tarlac feared that Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno will hamper the distribution of the 4,915-hectare sugar lands to about 5,000 farm workers and beneficiaries (FWBs).
Sereno took her oath before President Benigno Aquino III last Saturday following the announcement of her appointment as the new Chief Justice on Friday. She is the first female Chief Justice of the country and will serve for 18 years.
