Department of Education to monitor schools over graduation fee | Sun.Star.

THE Department of Education (DepEd) is set to monitor all state-owned primary and secondary schools to ensure none of the schools will collect graduation fees from their students and parents this March.
In the DepEd’s recent order, Secretary Armin Luistro said this is in response to the suggestion of various groups to strictly implement the department’s order prohibiting the collection of any fees during graduation days.
Luistro was referring to Akap Bata party-list, which recently launched their “Gradfee Monitor 2012”, a program specifically aims to discourage collection or requiring graduating students to pay graduation fee first as one of the prerequisites for graduation.
