THE Department of Education should not claim to be fully able to implement the Kinder to 12 Years Basic Education Program (K-12) just because it has enough instructional materials for public school students, the Kahugpungan sa mga Magtutudlo ug Kawani sa Edukasyon sa Mindanao-Alliance of Concerned Teachers (Kamkem-Act) said.
Elenito Escalante, (Kamkem-Act) Davao chair, said Sunday the Education department must also discuss and map out solutions to low salaries among teachers.
“Dapat balanse ang atensyon nga ihatag alang sa sweldo sa mga magtutudlo ug kaning ginahimo nila nga preparasyon alang sa K+12 (The attention for the preparation of the K+12 must be balanced with the issue on the salary of the teachers),” Escalante said.
He said if the DepEd could give much attention with the instructional materials for the upcoming K+12 program, which will start on June, then it would not be impossible for the department to give the same good plans for the increase of salaries.
