MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Justice (DOJ) has beefed up security at its main office along Padre Faura St., Ermita, Manila following security threats on Justice Secretary Leila De Lima monitored by the department’s Intelligence Service Operations Group (ISOG).
Speaking to reporters this morning, De Lima said that while the threats are not specific and not in the nature of death threats, it is more prudent to be safe than sorry.
“Palaging may security threats sa akin, but this time around, I’m handling very sensitive high profile cases. I’d rather be safe than sorry, and people have been advising me about that,” she said.
Her Presidential Security Group(PSG) detail will also be augmented, she bared, even as the DOJ has hired additional security guards to guard its premises.
There is information from the ISOG and “other sources,” De Lima said, that suspicious individuals are frequenting the area. These sources are “credible,” she said.
