Dear Peace Advocates:

Greetings from Initiatives for International Dialogue (IID)

As part of our efforts to address the peace issue in Mindanao, IID, through its Duyog Mindanao campaign and the Mindanao Peace Weavers (MPW) are organizing an activity called “RUN FOR PEACE AND SOLIDARITY FOR MINDANAO”. The Duyog Mindanao campaign is envisioned to continue to develop a broad national and international constituency for the right to self-determination of peoples and for a just and durable peace in Mindanao. Its goal is to build solidarity and constituency for peace in Mindanao by strengthening civil society’s capacity to assert their rights and sovereignty. The said activity hopes to build awareness and solidarity among peace advocates and the public as well, especially those who are not usually targeted by peacebuilding efforts and outside of the Mindanao conflict areas who are not so much aware about the situation in Mindanao.

It is going to be a fun run within the perimeter of Quezon City Memorial Circle while learning and understanding the Mindanao Peoples’ Peace Agenda (MPPA). The MPPA is a roadmap to hopefully achieve the cherished collective aspirations for justice, peace and self-determination of the peoples of Mindanao. It will be be held on August 27, 2011, Saturday, 5:00 am to 12 noon. Assembly point is at the Peace Bell and Runnex Club areas of the QC Circle. Various peace organisations and different schools, universities, civil society organisations including local and national government agencies are invited to participate.

In this regard, may we invite your organization to be part of the fun run 1) as a sponsor and be included in the list of participating organizations; 2) by sending a delegation; 3) by setting up an exhibit or sale booth (limited slots only); 4) by becoming a volunteer. No registration fee for particpating individuals/organizations during the fun run, exhibit and sale. For booth/tent reservation and other concerns about your participation, please call the IID office at telephone numbers 435 2900 or 911 0205 and look for Ms. Lyn Pangilinan. Please see attached event invite and programme.

We are looking forward to your participation in the event. If you have any inquiries, please don’t hesitate to contact us at the abovementioned numbers. Thank you and best regards.

Solidarity and Peace,
