The Philippine Alliance of Human Rights Advocates (PAHRA) calls out Vice President Sara Duterte for her latest display of theatrics at the House of Representatives, where she stayed beside her detained staff at the House of Representatives, only to later hold a press conference where she blatantly threw tantrums, turning a serious matter into yet another spectacle.

Egay Cabalitan, Secretary-General of PAHRA, criticized Duterte’s antics, “It is not your job to stage a meltdown and cause drama. You can spew rhetoric in front of the media, but you fail to defend your questionable spending. Much like how your father dodged accountability for the thousands of Filipinos murdered under his regime, you are now following the same pattern of evasion.”

“Sara Duterte’s refusal to address legitimate concerns only highlights her lack of leadership,” Cabalitan added. “If she spent half as much effort on transparency as she does on drama, perhaps the public would not question her integrity so intensely.”

PAHRA reminds public officials that accountability is not optional. “No amount of posturing or dramatic declarations can erase the need to answer for public funds and human rights violations. This country deserves more than leaders who hide behind theatrics to evade the truth,” Cabalitan concluded.

PAHRA stands firm in demanding transparency and justice, urging Vice President Duterte to drop the theatrics and face the questions that the Filipino people rightfully demand answers to.
