As we navigate the ongoing developments of the oil spill in Manila Bay, it is crucial for us to understand the scope of its impacts and responses needed to mitigate and address it. Through this discussion, we highlight in safeguarding our marine ecosystems, recount the lessons learned from the past oil spills – especially the oil spill in the Verde Island Passage just last year, and underscore the effects to our fisherfolk communities who are the most affected in this crisis.
