Sexual harassment is still a disconcerting reality for women of all ages. In the City of San Jose Del Monte many schools since the passage of the Safe Space Act of 2019 and the CSJDM Bawal Bastos City Ordinance of 2023 have yet to implement provisions of the Act and City Ordinance in their student handbooks and establish safeguards that responds to sexual harassment cases. As such many student leaders struggle to proactively campaign and advocate for safe spaces and battle against all forms of sexual harassment.
The San Joseño Students Coalition, as the the City Chapter of Student Council Alliance of the Philippines and SJDMNTS SSLG firmly stands against and condones ALL FORMS of sexual harassment anywhere especially in the campuses of our educational institutions, because schools are supposed to be safe spaces of holistic learning for students.
SJSC-SCAP deeply understands the struggles of Student Councils/Governments and Student Organizations especially in Secondary Education Schools in responding to such cases, and thus SJSC-SCAP vehemently supports in every way we could, every student organization that seeks to battle against to all forms sexual harassment and respond to such cases.
In the recent case in SJDMNTS and the statement of its Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG), SJSC-SCAP stands and supports SJDMNTS SSLG in their campaign and efforts to advocate for safe spaces in their school.
Furthermore, SCAP-SJSC as the Education Committee Chairperson of the City of San Jose Del Monte Youth Development Council condones and stands with all San Joseño student and youth leaders in the battle against all forms of harassment.
Moreover, SJSC-SCAP together with all our member organizations reiterate our call for the immediate passage of the Magna Carta of Students’ Rights and Welfare (STRAW) San Jose Del Monte City Ordinance to ensure that our rights as San Joseño students are protected by the City Government and to hold these schools and educational institutions accountable in cases of students’ rights violations.
Stop victim blaming!
End all forms of sexual harassment!
Pass the SJDM STRAW City Ordinance!
