Filipinos not informed about ‘self-serving’ draft federal charter, says Catholic prelate
“There are provisions that are self serving like the abolition of terms for Congress. It is clear that they so not have the good of the people in mind but their own self interest,” Manila Auxiliary Bishop Broderick Pabillo said in a statement.
Pabillo added that federalism with political dynasty is a sure formula for the dismemberment of the country.
“This draft statement – so hastily approved- is to be vigorously rejected!” he said. “I am dismayed at the house approval of the draft federal charter,” added Pabillo.
Balanga Bishop Ruperto Santos believes that the people should be thoroughly informed first about the draft.
