With the central theme: “Kaalamang Legal… Proteksiyon ng mga Guro, Punongguro at Paaralan” the training aims to equip the teacher-leaders and school heads with legal knowledge and skills to enable them to easily analyze and resolve cases emanating in their respective schools.

The activity is a part of an on-going paralegal training initiated by the TDC in coordination with the office of Atty. Alberto T. Muyot, DepEd Undersecretary for Legal Affairs and the alternative law group SALIGAN (Sentro ng Alternatibong Lingap Panlegal).

Among the guest speakers are veteran teacher-leader and PNU Professor Rene Romero, Atty. Joylyn Dulnuan of DepEd-NCR, Atty. Lito Calivoso of SALIGAN and Atty. Alberto Muyot, DepEd Undersecretary for Legal Affairs.

TDC National Chairperson Benjo Basas said that trainings of this kind are very relevant “especially nowadays where teachers are so much prone in legal problems because of several regulations especially in disciplining students.”

One of the issues that is expected to be tackled in the forum is the controversial “Child Protection Policy” of the Deped, which the TDC said must be clarified and put on the proper context.

The group is a staunch supporter of children’s rights. #

*As a matter of policy, the Church prohibits the mention of its name as well as video and photos of church structures in news reports, event coverage is only allowed in the hall.
