MEDIA ADVISORY
“Everywhere, respect for human rights was at the heart of the peoples’ claims.” At the core of it are ordinary people and Human Rights Defenders (HRDs) who take stance and speak out their desire for dignity through initiatives and collective actions. Such actions propel an outpouring of freedom around the world.
From the sparks of the Arab Spring to the suppressions in Africas, from the dire situation of Central Europe to the continuing attacks in Latin America, from the protests in Asia to the situation of HRDs in the Philippines, we will bring you “STEADFAST IN PROTEST” – the situation of HRDs worldwide.
The International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), the Philippine Alliance of Human Rights Advocates (PAHRA) and the Human Rights Defenders-Pilipinas (HRD-Pilipinas) will hold a public launching and a press conference on 14 February 2012, 11:00am – 01:00pm @ Max’s Restaurant Quezon City Circle. The public launching includes a discussion and an open forum on the State of HRDs particularly highlighting the recent case of Temogen “Cocoy” Tulawie – an human rights defender from Jolo. who has been detained due to false accusations.
