IRCT co-hosts conference on forensic evidence in the fight against torture

Forensic experts, human rights defenders, and international officials investigating torture will join in Washington, D.C. next month for a conference titled Forensic Evidence in the Fight against Torture.

Hosted by the IRCT and the American University Washington College of Law, the two-day conference seeks to enhance the use of forensic evidence to expose crimes of torture. At the conference, topics will include national, regional, and international best practices, challenges, and emerging issues.

The conference marks the end of a three-year IRCT project on forensic evidence and torture. This project sought to strengthen collaborations between health and legal practitioners in using medical and forensic evidence in legal proceedings in the fight against torture.
