MANILA – A migrants group on Wednesday urged overseas Filipino workers and fellow migrants to boycott Philippine Airlines, the country’s flag carrier, for being “anti-worker.”
In a statement, the group Migrant Forum in Asia (MFA) expressed support for the workers and members of the Philippine Airlines Employees Association (PALEA) following the termination of 2,600 ground workers at PAL.
“It has been a month since the PAL management unilaterally locked out and effectively terminated the 2,600 workers of the Philippine Airlines. Our sisters and brothers at Philippine Airlines Employees Association (PALEA) are steadfast in their demand to their rights to work, job security and decent jobs. The Migrant Forum in Asia strongly supports them in their fight against the flagrant injustice and labor rights violations committed by the PAL management,” said Rex Varona, MFA Spokesperson .
The MFA statement was distributed to various OFWs and partner Asian migrant workers.
