A Solidarity Fasting for Freedom and Human Rights

(on the 4^th day of Political Prisoners’ Hunger Strike)

July 28, 2011    10 am to 6 pm

at the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) grounds,

Commonwealth, Quezon City

After five-day of fasting, the political prisoners at New Bilibid Prison (NBP) have went to HUNGER STRIKE coinciding the State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Benigno Aquino III last July 25, 2011.

Calling for P-Noy to:

1.    Pronounce and issue a clear National Human Rights program for the respect, protection and fulfillment of Human Rights;

2.    For unconditional and immediate release of all political prisoners; and

3.    For prison reforms specifically review of the Rules on Parole and Guidelines for Recommending Executive Clemency.

With P-Noy’s SONA proclamation still without a clear policy on prosecuting the perpetrators of human rights violations and breaking impunity, and no mentioned on the plight of political prisoners under his leadership, various human rights groups, peoples’ organizations and supporters together with former political prisoners/detainees and their relatives will gather and hold solidarity fasting in support of the political prisoners and their calls.
