The PIRS, Inc. (Philippine Industrial Relations), in cooperation with the University of the Philippines- School of Labor and Industrial Relations (UP-SOLAIR) is hosting the National Industrial Relations Conference on August 24-25, 2011 at the Isabelo de los Reyes Auditorium, Bonifacio Hall, E. Jacinto St., Diliman, Quezon City.
The theme of the conference is “The Philippine Employment Relations Initiatives: Carving a Niche in the Philippine and Asian Setting.” The theme tracks are:
I. Managing work and organization (HRM)
II. Voice and representation (workplace partnership)
III. Work, family and community (civil society participation, informal sector, gender, health and work life balance)
IV. Institutions, processes and outcomes (labor laws and governance)
The objectives of this year’s National IR Conference are:
1. Share achievements, challenges, opportunities from actual Employment Relations (ER) work, initiatives and experiences at the level of policy, practice, research and education, applicable in the Philippines and Asia.
2. Document the different successful experiences, concepts and models; and determine the indicators of success and their applicability in the Philippines and global work places.
3. Recommend viable initiatives for practical, academic, legislative and legal institutionalizatio n of employment relations experiences and cases.
Dean Jorge V. Sibal, Conference Chairman recently released a call for paper for this conference. The deadline for paper abstracts is on June 25, 2011.
The guidelines are as follows:
1. Only one author can be listed as the presenter. Co-authors are welcome to attend the session but cannot pose as the presenter.
2. All abstracts must be in English.
3. Acronyms and abbreviations should be spelled out at first use.
4. All abstract must be submitted electronically.
