– Wakas-

Maligayang bati sa bawat Ina ng bayan!

[Press Release] Uphold RH law, best gift for Mother’s Day – PM

Uphold RH law, best gift for Mother’s Day – PM

pmLogo1The Partido ng Manggagawa (PM) joined RH leaders and advocates from the Purple Ribbon for RH to a rally at the Supreme Court, Padre Faura, Manila. In commemoration of Mothers’ Day on Sunday, May 12, PM and women’s groups called on the SC justices to heed the call of mothers and uphold the RH law (RA 10354).

Upholding the RH law is the best gift our SC justices could give to millions of Filipino mothers this Mothers’ Day,” asserted PM Secretary-General Judy Ann Miranda.

Eleven (11) deaths of women daily attributed to pregnancy and childbirth complications have increased over the past decade. The passage of the RH law, if immediately implemented, would have stepped up the efforts to address the problem. The status quo ante issued by the Supreme Court has stalled said process.

PM reiterated that the lives of women should be the utmost concern in the decision of the Supreme Court on the RH law rather than the Catholic Church’s disagreement that is not based on the real needs of women, especially poor and working women.

Group scores attacks vs women’s rights defenders

May 13, 2012

MANILA — Beyond the pomp celebrations of Mother’s Day worldwide, a human rights group hit the recent reported cases of harassment, vilification, illegal arrest and detention of women activists in the Philippines.

Among other cases, the Tanggol Bayi cited the arrest and imprisonment based on alleged trumped up charges of health worker Helen Igloria, a mother of three children, from Zamboanga del Norte; and the continuing threats to her life against Benedictine nun Sr. Stella Matutina, OSB.

The nun is presently the secretary general of environmental group Panalipdan! Mindanao, which aims to protect indigenous people’s rights against big corporate mining.

“These women are dedicated human rights workers who are being vilified by members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines with Oplan Bayanihan as their tool of terror. They are not merely made vulnerable by such attacks against their persons, they are made fair targets for extrajudicial killings and further rights violations,” said Cristina Palabay, spokesperson of Tanggol Bayi.

[In the news] ‘Dear son,’ mom of missing Jonas Burgos writes on Mother’s Day -GMA News

‘Dear son,’ mom of missing Jonas Burgos writes on Mother’s Day.

by CARMELA LAPEÑA, GMA NEWS
May 13, 2012

As mothers celebrate this Sunday (Mother’s Day) with their families, the mom of activist Jonas Burgos will spend the day sending a letter out, hoping it will reach her son who has been missing since 2007.

Like most mothers, Edita Burgos finds Mother’s Day a time to bring back memories with their children as they grew up. In her letter to her missing son, she recalls how she prepared herself for motherhood, even before deciding to get married.

Like most parents, she hoped to bring her children up well and wished that in turn they do the same to their own.

“I told myself that if I got married and would have children, I would do my best to bring them up into God-fearing, loving and generous adults who would one day also have their own families and bring their children up the way I did,” she reads her letter in a video posted on YouTube.

[Blogger] Mother’s Love is one of the Greatest Love of All by Jose Mario De Vega

Mother’s Love is one of the Greatest Love of All

There is no shadow of doubt that our mother’s love for us is unconditional and beyond question.

The fact that they decided to carry us for nine months and underwent a brutal and utterly bloody process which is undeniably life-threatening known universally as child-birth is an indispensable and irrefutable proof of their incomparable love, indefinable devotion, admirable courage and unimaginable selflessness!

That they are willing to accept all pains just to spare the child not even an ounce of it, that they are willing to starve even to the point of deprivation, so long as we may be nurture and sustain, that they are willing to do everything for us, so that we may have the best and that they are willing to sacrifice everything just to provide us with everything is a living testament to the endless affection and everlasting care for us!

This small letter of tribute is not enough to render justice and due recognition to our mothers, yet suffice it to say that, true to their inherent nature and being true to their being; they do not expect us anything, except to return their love to them and to our own child and the child of our child!

Indeed, our mother’s love is unconditional and beyond measure and if I may be allow to express, I will even further stretch the contention; and argue that their love, devotion and affection is one of the greatest love of all!

It is my humble contention that the said argument is beyond dispute and contestation!

My personal life is a bit complicated coming from two different social classes. My father is a bit well to do, by virtue of the fact that he came from the bourgeois class; while my mother came from the proletarian class. I am both a mixed product of heaven and hell, so to speak!

Though, I love my father, I love my mother more. Why? Because even if we are poor and materially deprived; she taught me all the laws of life and the mysteries of existence at the very young age. I believe that what she has transmitted and bequeathed to me is far more superior and undeniably more substantive than all things money can buy.

Material things can come and go, but virtue, responsibility, character and wisdom are elements which can never ever be bought and no one can never ever take away from you.

About those things that money can buy, my dearest mother taught me to value more those things that cannot be equated with financial means nor reduce to economic terms, such as bonding with friends, spending time with the family, the teaching profession, the beauty and majesty of love, the genuineness of friendship, love of life and the courage to stand for something which we believe is true, just and beautiful and the necessary willingness to die, if so required, fighting for those human and noble causes!

And above all, I sincerely love my mother for teaching me to always do the right things at the right time for the right cause, even to the point of death!

Lastly, I would like to thank my dearest beloved mother for teaching me what Kahlil Gibran famously stated that:

“Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their soul,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.”

I love you, my dearest Mama, my Mamouchka, my friend, my teacher, my comrade and my dearest lovely buddy! Hugs!

Happy, Happy Mother’s Day to you and to all mothers of the world!

[Isyung HR] Mother’s Day Joks

Hahaha! Pero ngayon Mother’s Day at laban pa ni Paquiao on the side.

Alam niyo ba? A female oyster over her lifetime may produce over 100 million young. Hahaha

Alam niyo ba?

Alam niyo ba? Na In the vast majority of the world’s languages, the word for “mother” begins with the letter M.  Mother Lily, Mother Nature, Mother Earth, Mother Board, Mother or Manay Lolit, Mother Ricky, Mother Fanny, Mother Annabel, Mother f____r. Hahaha

Alam niyo ba? Na si Mary Wollstonecraft ang Mother of Feminism. Sino kaya ang Mother of terrorism? Mother ni Bin Laden ba o Mother ni Obama?

Alam niyo ba?

Please answer this Mokong survey and next week ilalabas natin ang result.
1.    Sino ang ‘Mother of All the Living.’?
2.    Sino ang mother of all corruption, scam at kakapalan ng mukha sa Pilipinas?
3.    Sino ang original mother of “I will not resign” at sino naman ang copy-cat niya?
5.    Sino ang mother of all quotes at ano ang kanyang sinabi?
6.    Sino ang mother of all killings o kung minsan naman ay mother of berdugo or mother of human rights violations?
7.    Sino ang pinaka masayang mother ngayong Sunday “Mother’s Day”? and why?

Hanggang sa uulitin ito ang inyong mokong na nagsasabing “Mokongs at Mokangs of the world unite, we have nothing to looooose coz we have nothing at all.”
