[Event] “I have RAGED” (Run Against Enforced Disappearance) – CAED
The Families of Victims of Involuntary Disappearance (FIND) together with the Coalition Against Enforced Disappearance (CAED) will observe the International Day of the Disappeared (IDD) on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 to honor our loved ones –brothers and sisters who became victims of enforced or involuntary disappearance in the country.
Since 1985, FIND documented 1,825 victims of enforced disappearance; 1,138 of these remain missing, 255 were found dead and 432 surfaced alive. Under the current administration of President Benigno C. Aquino III, four cases have been documented, and until a law penalizing those responsible of committing enforced disappearance is approved in Congress, people will continue to suffer from this most cruel form of human rights violation.
To commemorate and to remind government of the urgency in addressing the issue of enforced disappearances, we would like to invite you to join us in the following activities:
1. “I have RAGED” (Run Against Enforced Disappearance) – the run for a cause with Fr. Robert Reyes will start from the Quezon City Circle towards the Bantayog ng mga Bayani in Quezon Avenue.
Assembly time: 8:00 A.M.
Assembly area: National Housing Authority
Run starts at: 9:00 A.M.
2. “In Memoriam” – A Mass for the Missing – the Holy Mass will be officiated by Fr. Robert Reyes at the Bantayog ng mga Bayani and shall commence right after the arrival of the contingent.
